Peshawar 2.0 is super-excited and proud to announce that our Co-Founder and Lead, Dr Faisal Khan, has been appointed as a member of the KP Information Technology Board by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This appointment comes as an endorsement of the remarkable efforts Team Peshawar 2.0 and Faisal Khan have been putting in to rebuild and rebrand Peshawar as the most hospitable city for tech, design and art. The Board is chaired by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and is reconstituted every three years.

Dr Faisal Khan holds an MSc and a DPhil in from the University of Oxford (UK) where he worked at the interface of biology and computer science. He also read Strategy and Innovation at Oxford’s Said Business School. Faisal has won several awards as academic including the Oxford Noon Scholarship and the Domus Award and is a passionate entrepreneur with one of his startups winning the largest business plan competition at the University of Cambridge.

Unlike many other Pakistanis, instead of staying abroad, he chose to come back to help catalyse a new culture of technological innovation and embracing startups. He is also the Founding Director and an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Integrative Biosciences at CECOS University and a visiting faculty at the University of Peshawar.

For the last three years, Faisal Khan and Peshawar 2.0 has been stirring a revolution of tech, innovation and startups in the region. It is because of his efforts that Peshawar hosted a number of globally recognized events including TEDxPeshawar, StartupWeekend, Peshawar Civic Hackathon, Global Entrepreneurship Week, and of course the country’s biggest tech conference, the Digital Youth Summit. Faisal is also a co-founder at Basecamp Peshawar.

Peshawar 2.0 highly appreciates the Government of KPK for placing its faith in Dr. Faisal Khan and his vision for the region. We are confident his contributions in policy formulations and the overall strategy and roadmap for technology in the province will make us all proud. We believe this takes us a step closer towards our dream of building Peshawar 2.0. Our dream city. A city of technology, design and art.
